Nancy Wilson, a jazz singer and a three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Ohio, Chillicothe on the 20th of February, 1937. She was married to Olden Wilson, an ironworker. had worked for a long period as a housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was youngest baby of six. Nancy was a child who listened to records from her father as well as his enthusiasm for music. When she was just 4years old, Nancy was aware she would be an artist. She was able to develop her talents through singing in the church choir. Following her win in a talent show on television when she was 15, she started to appear regularly on Skyline Melodies, while still in high school. She began working in nightclubs at the same age. Nancy graduated high school at 17 and attended Ohio's Central State College, now Central State University for a full year. After that, she left to pursue a job as professional musician. Her debut album was released in 1956 by Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band. The group toured with her from 1956-1958. Nancy released her debut recording via Dot Records during the time she spent in this band. Cannonball addederley recommended that she relocate to New York for her career, and in 1959 she moved to The Big Town. Adderley's Agent heard her in The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she signed. Within a month after arriving to New York, she was in the city. Agent Adderley signed her to Capitol in 1960. The year she made her debut was the same year. Guess Who You Saw Today. Capitol issued five Nancy Wilson albums within two years. She initially focused on blues and rhythm under Adderley's influence, she began to move away from R&B and embraced the torch and jazz genres. Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley and their 1962 collaboration helped her reach the top. She had her breakthrough hit Tell Me the Truth by 1963. It was this performance that led her to a spot in the New York Coconut Grove in 1963. It was the most crowded in America's nightclub.

She played Michal who was the daughter of King Saul in ABC's biblical show Of Kings and Prophets.
