Nancy Wilson and Maisie Richardson

Nancy Wilson, a jazz musician and a three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on 20 February 1937 to Olden Wilson an ironworker who had worked for a long time as a housekeeper. Nancy was the youngest of six children. Nancy was extremely influenced when she was a young girl by the music her father enjoyed and loved playing in the home. As young as 4, Nancy already knew she would be a performer. Her talents were developed when she sang in the choir of her church. The show was on television in her 15th year and then began appearing regularly on the Tv show Skyline Melodies while still in high school. That same year, Nancy started to work in nightclubs. Nancy was 17 when she had graduated high school, and then matriculated at Ohio Central State College (now Central State University) for an entire year prior to deciding to pursue a career as a musician. Her first recording was in Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band in 1956. They performed from 1956 until 1958. Nancy's first Dot Records recording was made while she was in the big band of the Carolyn Club. Cannonball Aderley suggested that she make the move to New York so as to increase her chances of success. In 1959 Nancy made the move to The Big Town. Within a couple of weeks the manager of Adderley heard her singing and hired her. It was a contract with Capitol Records in 1960. The year was 1960 when she made her debut with. Guess who I saw today. Capitol issued five Nancy Wilson albums within two years. The first was focused on R&B however, under Adderley's influence, she started to take on jazz. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley's collaboration in the year 1962 helped bring her to the forefront and her hit Tell Me the Truth was recorded in 1963. This performance helped her land a gig in the New York Coconut Grove in 1963, America's most popular nightclub.

In 2013, she appeared as Korr Sella in Short Wars: Forces Awakening in the year 2015. In 2016, she was a part of the Netflix Original Film The Kissing Booth Season 2 as Chloe Winthrop.
